What's the difference between a Ferrari V8 engine and a Ford (or Holden) V8?

They're both V8s. Is it the twin turbochargers? Fuel injection? If I put on a Ford or Holden V8 motor, what a Ferrari V8 engine has on it, would it perform the same as a Ferrari V8?

What makes the difference? Can I buy a cheap V8 engine and turn it into a super-car engine? If not, why not?|||its all about desighn and how well crafted the engine is. i have a lexus v8 that gives 300hp and 310lb of torgue. without killing the mpg. so the 3 main peices of design for engines is hp torque and mpg. alot of engines can easily be reworked by pros to get alot more power without spending to much $$$. such as i have a techer who had a guy work on his dodge ram 2500 deisel engine and it cost a good bit and im not sure of what all was done but it has over 1000hp now. so you can work a v8 to be much more powerfull (especisally deisel) but farrari has some of the best pros doingt hat along with the best parts for the rest of the car. so dont expect a farrari sound or power. you can expect maybe twice your hp if your good at it|||Ferrari V8's are very different than a Ford V8. Think precision engineering. Ferrari's cost more money for a reason. There is no way you could get the same power and precision out of a Ford Engine. Ferraris usually also come naturally-aspirated.

How to become a Ferrari or porsche mechanic?

I've ALWAYS wanted to work on exotics, but have favored both ferrari and porsche.. But idk how to get into the field, I'm 18 so I've got some time to learn.. Any info will be greatly appreciated! Thanks :) |||i think you need to actually have worked on one before...|||Generally, you go to school to become a mechanic, like a community college that offers automotive. Next, you get employed at one of the dealers, and if you do well as a class C mechanic, you will probably be asked to further your education, that is often going to the factory to learn about the cars and work on them. At least that is what the techs at my garage have done, and they work on Audi, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, and VW.|||ITT in Chicago, or look into a trade school that specializes in them. They are out there, then find out what you need to do to get in to the school.. that's a right out of high school thing you are prime for that education go for it.

I hired two mechanics straight from ITT CHicago and they may have been a little green on the shop sense but in the engine and drive train they know what they were doing, Then I sent them to the Porsche school and a Mercedes school and they are tops... Great kids.|||Go to UTI technical school or Lincoln Technical institute to learn how to become a mechanic specializing in certain types of cars or manufacturers.|||Luck. thats a serious answer by the way...|||work on cars. then get a job. state your experience with them.

Formula one racing how much longer do we have to put up with Ferrari cheating?

At least the new teams try to compete but how do you compete against teams like ferrari with the financial backing that they have and the new boss of racing is ex ferrari.|||I am sorry to say I think F1 is all about money ~ Ferrari have the money which gives them the power ~ I was gutted about what went on yesterday ~ the end of the race was just a parade ~ and not exciting for the fans at all ~ Ferrari cheated the fans out of a proper race ~ and also anyone who bet any money was also cheated ~|||Yes it WAS cheating. A clear and deliberate breach of Rule 39.1. If the FIA do not hold an enquiry and take further action their new hope of credibility is destroyed. I have been involved in legal proceedings for years and the various inconsistent and politicised decisions of that body in the past are contemptible. Anyone who considers that Ferrari are not at the forefront of behind the scenes manipulation is a blinkered camp follower or is not accustomed to reading the goings on of big business. They won't impress me if they get a one two in every race. Yes, all the teams indulge in wheeler dealing and sending each other up which has always been part of the sport. But this is something different. Totally pre meditated unlike some other ocurrences, when people have on the spur of the moment tried to cover up a wrong decision because they have panicked.|||If you're referring to today's "race" where Massa was ordered to let Alonzo pass, it wasn't exactly cheating. But, it sure didn't look good.

This has always been a problem in F-1 as long as teams have run more than 1 car. There have always been "team orders" where teams favor their driver who has the better chance to win, or finish higher, in the driver championship, to get that driver max points.

That being said, it sure doesn't help the image of F-1 that this is allowed to go on (and today was pretty blatant). When people pay to see an F-1 race, or watch it on TV, they should expect to get a competive RACE where the finish is not pre-determined. In theory, team orders are not allowed, but everyone knows they exist.

I don't know what the solution is to this problem. Maybe each car should be a completely seperate team (but then you get into the problem of not being able to share expenses by running multiple cars as a team).

All I know, is that I did not like seeing what I saw today (and you could see what was going to happen before it took place) and Ferrari should be ashamed that they fixed the order of the finish.

If winners in F-1 are going to pre-determined, and the drivers are not allowed to race, then F-1 faces the real possibility of being taken as seriously as professional wrestling.|||its not just ferrari all teams do it you can't seriouslly think that no other teams cheat or alter the truth what about when hamilton jumped the safety car to get second got a drive through and stayed second or when hamilton lied to the steward when they had proof of what he said on the radio but he was lying to try and get away with it and had to make a formal apolgy. or when nelson piquet jr crashed on purpose so alonso could win when at renault ad it changed the whole world championship and massa didnt win it because of that and hamilton when he shouldnt of.

and all teams have a limit on how much they can spend on the cars so ferrari cant spend all the maney that they wan and they arent even the richest teams they can hardly afford to keep racing in formula 1 thats why the nearly didnt race this year people like the virgin cars and red bull and maclaren are the richest|||It is not cheating when you have money. In previous years the Toyota team had the most money, and were not very successful. McLaren, Red Bull, Williams, Mercedes all have money. Even Virgin has that billionaire guy.|||With any luck one of both of the Ferrari drivers will be disqualified when the FIA meets regarding that cheating of which you speak.|||What i think is out of order is that I had money on Massa to win that race...

What do I get back back ...nowt!!!

Shocking... they should be ashamed of themselves

It was embarrassing watching them being interviewed after it.. acting like nothing happened.

something has gotta be done otherwise no-one will watch|||Massa, Alonso and ferrari cheated and unless the result is declared void, both drivers and Ferrari suspended then F1 is just as corrupt as they are!!

It is pointless watching any sport that is so easily corrupted!!!|||What other teams are heavily disciplined for Ferrari always seem to escape!!

But how can F1 keep any credibility of the cheating team and both cheating drivers that fixed the result of the race get away with it?!!|||Sorry but probably as long as we have to put up with Hamilton being the golden boy and getting away lightly with everything he does!|||How much longer do we have to put up with Alonso cheating?|||the rest of the field is far from flawless when it comes to rules. watch some of the crap Lewis Hamilton gets away with before you start calling others cheaters. Ferrari didn't win like 70% of the races from 2000-2004 simply because they "cheat" with team orders, both cars were miles ahead of everyone else. i dont like team orders either, but i wouldn't call it 'cheating', they've had team orders since the first season and they'll have them until the last season.|||Why is it that every Brit-based team sucks so bad,

even when they have the financial backing of the government?|||So mclaren never cheat eh? whatever

F1 would be nothing without Ferrari so deal with it
