Is it appropriate to boycott Ferrari as a brand because of the current situation in Formula 1?

My opinion is that Ferrari, and not McLaren, are responsible for the over-politicized Stepney-gate controversy in F1. I will personally not purchase any Ferrari, Marlboro, or Formula 1 branded merchandise, and will instead support Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes brands whenever possible because of Ferrari's actions during the 2007 Formula 1 Championship.

Further, because of BMW/Sauber's comments in the opinion of how they would receive a constructor's award in this year's championship, I will similarly endeavor to support those companies as well in lieu of what I perceive as greedy, controlling actions by Ferrari/Marlboro with regard to the FIA and F1 as a motorsport.|||I would! Regardless of what it is, if it has a Ferrari logo on it, the money goes directly to the company and the company give the team the money for the cars. If I were u, I would boycott their sponsors as well! They pay them too!|||well i don't really think so. ferrari racing and the ferrari's commercial cars are two different concepts. How does its politics in racing mean anything in it's selling hi end luxury cars?|||Punishment is not so strong, McLaren is GUILTY I repeat for the people who still haven't understood that, McLaren is GUILTY, so Alonso or Hamilton will win the championsip with an ILLEGAL car, in a incorrect, deceiver team

for the blind one i answer with that...

that's ridicuolous and scandalous, like the blind one who still are funs of mclaren

is that sport? is that good for sport? many compliments....|||Why would you want to punish the victim?

Though I don't subscribe to buying Ferrari logo items or products, or any other conglomerate for that matter and giving them free advertising by displaying their brands, if your line of thought were the norm, would your next move be calling for victims of all crimes to be punished, or even discriminated against?|||The reason why McLaren got penalize is because of the emails between pedro and Alonso. They had data that they should not have, the situation is clean cut.

Are you saying that Ferrari shouldn't had lodge a complain aganist McLaren even though McLaren breach copyright rules?

Only a McLaren fan would think so.

McLaren's engineers and management people brought the entire team into this situation. They choose to use the data instead of destroying them and make a report about both Ferrari and McLaren's personal trading secrets.

They did not, they choose to use the info instead, and so they pay the price.|||Yhea.Buy a Fiat, that will show the Ferrari Buggers.|||sorry , i cant afford a ferrari, even a used one, but i drive a benz, ( 2 actually ) and have been a fan of mclaren since the time of the great ayrton senna... but...they cheated man... no other way to look at it...Dennis is quoted as saying that although they had the Ferrari dossiers they never used them... the burden then is on Mclaren to prove that they didn`t use them...a poster said that Alonso or Hamilton will win the championship with an illegal car, and he is absolutely right...|||No. The current situation in F1 is certainly a big issue involving the two biggest teams Ferrari and McLaren but there are two sides to every story. Maybe McLaren are partly at fault as well... so what do we do? Boycott both brands?|||Yes, I think I'll frive a Saab this year instead... or maybe a Vauxhaul|||Absolutely not but those that have always hated Ferrari will really hate them now and those that were riding the fence will also probably hate them now. Ferrari did nothing wrong. A McLaren employee and two of their drivers put them in this place.

Boycotts are stupid ideas in general. Especially against worldwide companies. A few people don't buy Ferrari hats? Big deal.
