Why is the traditional colour of a Ferrari red?

Ive made this riddle. Try 2 solve it. Why is a Ferrari painted red? Best answer gets 10 points.

Hint: Arch rival|||to answer your riddle: because they want to make the BULL (Lamborghini's logo) mad.|||http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari

Red is the Ferrari racing color. All of their official race cars from formula one and sports car racing are painted red. It is by far the most popular color on Ferrari's and some even pay extra to get it. Problem is you go to Ferrari show and all you see is red cars!

Personally I really like the tour de france, dark blue color the best, it make a ferrari look a little classier.

From an old discussion of national racing colors from this thread.

Originally, national colors were as follows:

France was blue

Germany white

Belgium yellow

Britain green

America red.

The fact that no Americans made much of an impact in Europe resulted in red being taken over by the Italians - which is why today Ferraris are red.

German cars were white until 1934 when Mercedes-Benz decided to save weight by not painting its racing machines and Ferdinand Porsche, the Auto Union designer, decided to follow suit because he had minimalist tendencies. And so Germany's national color has become silver.

Actualy, in a way, they did change their colours. I don't remember how the story goes but at the end of the '64 season, for some reason Ferrari didn't enter their cars and drivers for the US and Mexican GP's under their own name. Instead the cars and drivers where entered by the "Northern American Racing Team", wich I think was set up by the US-Ferrari importer or something like that. For those races the Ferraris were painted in white and blue livery!|||Ferrari's traditional red comes from how the sport of racing began, where each country was assigned a color and the red for Ferrari has remained. Red was assigned to Italian cars, Green to English, Blue to France and so on. Canary yellow as seen on the Prancing Horse emblem could be classed as Ferrari's official color as it symbolised the town of Modena.

cheers|||red is the national racing color of Italy, all their racing cars at one point were red.
