Will brawn be as successfull with honda as he was with Ferrari?

Brawn says that honda are already better off than when he joined ferrari.. Obviously they don't have the benefit of having a young michael schumacher on board but they do have deep pockets..

Do you think Honda will see an immediate improvement with brawn on board as their team principal? How long do you think it will take them to be able to contend with the likes of the BMW's and Mclarens?|||It's hard for them not to see an immediate improvement from 2007. They stunk! I still think it will take three-years for Honda to get up there with BMW and Mclaren.

I don't think he'll be as successful with Honda. His stint with Ferrari saw them take 5 drivers title and 6 constructors' title. He also had Rory Byrne and Schumacher in their prime at Ferrari. Jenson Button is not in Schumacher's league.|||Maybe not that much during the 2008 season but maybe we will start seeing them take a bit of shape at 2009. Who knows, in 2010, they might be fighting the Beemers like crazy. It took 4 years for Ross to turn Ferrari around, with a young Schumi on board. Well he doesn't have that benefit in Honda anymore does he but then this is the modern world where technology does wonders... So I'd say 4-6 years and maybe become a front runner but not Ferrari status.|||A great deal will depend on how well he gels with the team. I've followed F1 long enough to know that problems (invisible intially to the outside) within a team will cripple it. Honda are not used to the kind of embarrasing season they had this year and will, I believe, give Ross the support he needs to bring about changes for the good to Honda and make them at least as competetive as BMW were this year. How much can be done for 2008 I'm not sure, so much work has been done already developing the car...maybe there are things he can see already to make some immediate improvements within the team.|||I think he will have an affect on the 2009 Honda. At this point Honda has already finished the designing the 2008 car. But he might prove effective in tweaking the car as well as managing and organizing the team.

But Brawn's issues with success might lead with Honda's organization. Similar to how Mike Gascoyne was at Toyota. Gascoyne had helped develop the Renault and Jordan's for years and all there cars proved successful. Brawn's influence might take some years but at some point they will be contenders. Michael Schumacher is good buddies with Ross Brawn you never know Schumacher might defect to Honda and help them with developing there car.|||It's a rare designer that can have sustained success at two different teams. Brawn has already had one successful team change (helped a lot by Schumi changing teams at the same time, it has to be said)...but will his luck hold?

Gordon Murray, Harvey Postlethwaite, John Barnard and Mike Gascoyne all found that you rarely enjoy the same level of success with two different teams.

Murray got "kicked upstairs" at McLaren when his working relationship with Ron Dennis stalled, despite designing the dominant 1988 McLaren. Barnard succumbed to Ferrari politics despite producing race winners that could have been championship winners. Postlethwaite never got back to the level he attained with Ferrari in the early 80s, and Gascoyne must lie awake at night wondering why he quit Renault for Toyota.

Honda will be the true test of Brawn's competence. They have suffered from conservative car design and mixed testing results in the past, two areas he can certainly help to improve. The question must be: Can he make the Japanese work in a way which brings success? The Japanese mentality of "no star performers" can take any team to a certain level (see their fairly successful football team, for example)...to get to the top you need a hero or two.

Brawn managed to organise Italians, so anything is possible I suppose...

As to when they can expect success...it's probably too late for fundamental changes to the 2008 car, but he can tidy it up and get the best out of what he finds. 2009 will be the first all-Brawn car. They will be up with BMW the second they design a car which holds the road in a corner...McLaren may take three years or more!|||It's a possibility. Obviously the fact that Honda is one of the bigger budget teams will help.

I think there'll be improvement in Honda's performance, but it may take time. But having Ross Brawn in the team is definitely an asset and an advantage because there's no denying that Ross is pretty good at what he does. As for them competing with other teams, that won't be so soon; miracles don't happen all the time.

However, Ross will definitely be able to make significant (positive) changes to the team. I can't believe he's left Ferrari!!|||I think it will be a few years before we really see the Brawn effect, but him being there is already a huge moral boost for the team. Hopefully we will see Jenson perform to his potential now and Rubins come back into the running.|||Review for the previous seasons, Honda is one of the great team (B.A.R. Honda).. and sometimes they competed McLaren, Renault and even Ferrari.. but suddently this year Honda is droping down.. somethings wrong with the car and the team..

I think Brawn will do somethings to improve in 2008 and be one of the top team in 2009.. Honda will come out in 2008 as a new team.. they were reborn.. just like BMW..
